Learning by doing

There are many opportunities for students to turn their studies into action – and build their resumes. Faculty work closely with partners across Middlesex and the community to bring thoughtful and engaging hands-on experience into the curriculum. These opportunities range from off-campus academic endeavors to on-campus programs that span multiple disciplines. For example:

  • Radiography students annually attend the Massachusetts Radiological Technician Conference and compete in their Buzz Bowl Challenge.
  • Students in the Business and Economic Club have competed in the College Federal Reserve Challenge of the Federal Reserve System, making team presentations on the current economic situation and recommending changes and improvements.
  • Students studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Math joined their professors at a local trapeze school for first-hand experience with physics.

Campus Catalyst

Middlesex is one of four colleges selected by the Deshpande Foundation to participate in its entrepreneurial Merrimack Valley Sandbox initiative known as Campus Catalyst. Students can turn their passion into a business, while affecting social change. They work on semester-long projects to address social challenges and spark new economic development within the area, with seed capital available to support the most promising ones.
