Students who are first generation to college (parents do not have a four year college degree), students who meet certain income guidelines, and/or individuals with disabilities are invited to learn more about how TRIO can help you succeed. Services for eligible students include professional tutoring; help with financial aid and transfer processes; cultural events and visits to four year colleges; and supportive academic, transfer, financial aid, and personal advising. Wellness Matters: Sleep, Diet, and Exercise

Taking care of our physical bodies is so important for our overall success in life.  Sleep, diet, and exercise are all connected directly to our energy levels, moods, quality of life, and ability to be productive and successful. Students are invited to share their own experiences and choices regarding sleep, diet, and exercise. World of Music Concert Series: Carmen Rodriguez-Peralta

Fugues, elaborate musical puzzles, combined with preludes are the inspiration for this recital, during a time when everyone is captivated by puzzles. This program will include two sets of Preludes and Fugues in C Major by Johann Sebastian Bach and Larry Bell, Sonata in A flat Major, Op. 110 by Ludwig van Beethoven, Prelude from Pour le Piano by Claude Debussy and four Preludios Americanos by Alberto Ginastera.

Visiting Writer Series – Lillian-Yvonne Bertram

Lillian-Yvonne Bertram has published four books of poetry, is a winner of the Noemi Press Poetry Prize and the Poetry Society of America Anna Rabinowitz Prize for interdisciplinary and venturesome work, and a finalist for the National Poetry Series. Their poetry, prose, and essays have appeared in Callaloo, Harvard Review, Black Warrior Review, Narrative Magazine, and elsewhere. They have received grants and fellowships from the NEA, the Massachusetts Council Cultural, Cave Canem, and others. Bertram is Director of the MFA in Creative Writing program at UMass Boston and also directs The Chautauqua Writers' Festival. World of Music Concert Series: Lowell Threads: Mozart, Marshall, Nabors and Nakatani

Lowell Threads showcases new composers woven into a program featuring a set of works by a famous composer. Members from the Lowell Chamber Orchestra will perform the four Flute Quartets by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, along with interludes by MCC faculty member Pamela Marshall, Yoko Nakatani, and Brian Raphael Nabors. Performers are MCC faculty member Orlando Cela, flute; Susanne Powers, violin; Peter Sulski, viola and Ariana Falk, cello.

Resume Writing and Workforce Skills Panel

A panel of representatives from Raytheon, the Department of Labor, and the Bedford VA will share insight on how students can use their resume to market themselves for civilian or federal careers. While the focus of this discussion will be geared toward veterans and military connected students, all MCC students are welcome and encouraged to attend. Topics will include: how veteran and military-connected students translate military skills to either a federal or civilian resume; what executive functioning skills are needed in the workforce (e.g. communication, teamwork, attitude, leadership and work ethic); what experiences and skills may be of value to employers. World of Music Concert Series: Jérôme Mouffe, Guitar

Belgian virtuoso guitarist Jérôme Mouffe will explore the reciprocal influences between music from the new and the old continents. From Agustin Barrios' Mazurka or Antonio Lauro's Waltzes to the flamenco Guajiras, this program will show how forms, genres, and musicians traveled thousands of miles to shape masterpieces of the guitar repertoire.
