The doors of the Asian American Connections Center officially opened March 2nd. Located on the ground floor of the Cowan Center on the Lowell campus, the center is one of four strategies being implemented to help Asian-American students succeed through the support of the AANAPISI grant. This grant allows us to provide a holistic support system designed to improve student's college-going experience, increase retention, graduation and transfer outcomes.

More than 100 students, staff, faculty and community partners turned out for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Speakers included President James Mabry, Dean of Students Pam Flaherty, Virak Uy, the new Director of the Asian American Advancement Program, State Sen. Eileen Donoghue, State Rep. (and alum) Rady Mom, MCC Trustee Bopha Malone, and Russell Panderes, representing Congresswoman Niki Tsongas. The Asian American Connections Center received a citation from Mom, as well as a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Tsongas.
