How do I withdraw from a course?
Complete the Course Withdrawal Form online at https://etcentral.sd.middlesex.mass.edu/#/form/10 or Email MCC withdrawal withdrawal@middlesex.edu
Does a withdrawal show on my transcript?
A course withdrawal does show as a grade of “W” on your academic transcript and counts as a course attempt.
Does a withdrawal count in my GPA?
For students who withdraw by the withdrawal deadline, a “W” will be recorded on the transcript and will count as a course attempt, but will not be factored in to the GPA calculation.
How do I know when I can withdrawal from a course?
Withdrawal deadlines are located on the college Academic Calendar https://www.middlesex.mass.edu/academiccalendar/.
If I withdraw from my class do I still owe money?
If a student withdraws from a course they do not get a refund for the course withdrawal
What is the difference between dropping and withdrawing?
- Withdrawing From Courses: After the course drop period, students have the right to withdraw from one, several, or all courses through the last day to withdraw as published in the academic calendar https://www.middlesex.mass.edu/academiccalendar/ . Students need to submit the withdrawal form https://etcentral.sd.middlesex.mass.edu/#/form/10 or Email MCC withdrawal withdrawal@middlesex.edu to have the withdrawal processed. A withdrawal results in a grade of “W” for the course.
- Dropping Courses: Dropping a course means you are dropping the course during the first few weeks of the class. The drop deadline is listed on the Academic calendar https://www.middlesex.mass.edu/academiccalendar/ . Dropping a course does not result in a grade. Dropping a course may result in a full or partial refund for that course. Students can self-drop a course on their own in the MyMcc portal.

What happens to my Veteran benefits if I withdraw?
All Veteran and Military Connected students are required to connect with their assigned School Certifying Official regarding any changes to their academic standing or term registration. To find your assigned Academic Advisor / SCO, log into MyMCC or visit middlesex.mass.edu/advising.
I am an International student. Is my visa impacted if I withdraw?
Course credit load is an important part of an international student Visa. All international students must maintain a full-time course load (12 credits or more) each semester in order to fulfill visa requirements. I’m thinking of withdrawing. Who should I talk to if I have questions?
First you should talk to your advisor. Advisors can offer key insights into the impact of a course withdrawal. If you are thinking of withdrawing due to course performance it may also be helpful to speak to your course instructor. They be offer opportunity that could greatly impact your grade, or offer further insights into successful grade achievement. The Office of the Registrar is also available to answer questions withdrawal@middlesex.edu or to assist getting you in touch with other support services.
I missed the withdrawal deadline, what can I do?
- Speak to your professor to see what options you have to improve your grade.
- If there are extenuating circumstances for which the student must provide official documentation and follow the Withdrawal Due to Extenuating Circumstances Policy
I’ve submitted my withdrawal form how long does it take to process?
We process request in the order they arrive. Generally, the course withdrawal should be processed and the grade of “W” should be visible within 2-3 business days.
Where can I go to see if a withdrawal has been processed?
Students Can: Log-in to their "MyMcc” . Select "My Degree Audit" under My Student Records. Press the "Process New" Button. Withdrawals will appear in the "Insufficient" section towards the bottom of the page.
