TRIO: Program for Student Achievement

Purpose:

The TRIO-Program for Student Achievement serves eligible students with disabilities in conjunction with the Student Access and Support Services Office.  Students receive academic and financial aid advising, career and transfer counseling, and individualized tutoring.  The program sponsors a variety of informational and educational workshops.  Assistive technology is available.

 

Eligibility:

To receive services, students must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in college classes at Middlesex Community College, have a need for academic support, and provide documentation of disability.

 

Services for Eligible Students:

  • Advising – academic, career, financial aid, personal
  • Tutoring in Mathematics, Reading, Writing, Computer Literacy
  • Assistance in transferring to 4 year colleges
  • Monitoring of academic progress
  • Planning, Organization and Study Skills
  • Training in self-advocacy skills
  • Opportunities to attend cultural and educational events
  • Referral to appropriate college programs, departments, and community agencies
