Michelle Deane - Jazz Dance

Michelle started her dance training in Southern California, where she studied ballet at Desert Ballet Centre.  She graduated with a BFA in Dance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and continued her education at Cambridge College receiving her M.Ed.  Since 2002, Michelle has been training, teaching and performing all over the New England area. She has been a Company member for Adrienne T. Hawkins “Day Job Dancers” in addition to teaching for Adrienne at Impulse Dance Studio in Boston.  She was also a member of many dance companies which include Six One Seven Dance Collective, Rainbow Tribe Dance Company, Triiiple Threat Entertainment, Synergy Dance Company and was also Co-founder and choreographer for Amara Dance Company. For over ten years, she was principle dancer and client liaison for Upside Entertainment and KLASS Universal Entertainment, both premier Boston Entertainment DJ/Band Companies. Recently, Michelle was a member of the Beantown Lockers. The BeanTown Lockers are a street dance company focused on the dance form of locking, founded by Artistic Directors Carl Alleyne and Kenzie Illnest. BTL was one on the proud recipients of a grant from The Boston Foundation to complete a series of outdoor dance events called “Funky Fridays.” These events were in collaboration with local dance companies, guest DJs and most importantly the community. Michelle recently choreographed and performed in the summer dance festival, Built on Stilts on Martha’s Vineyard showcasing her solo “Heath Hen Summer”, a work that pays tribute to her many summers on the Island. Michelle Deane has been a dance educator for many years and she going into her seventh year teaching in the Dance Department at Salem State University. Michelle’s true passion is teaching and is excited for the opportunity to work with the students and faculty at Middlesex Community College.




Kathy Cobb - Jazz Dance, Intro to Tap, Intro to Ballet

Kathy Cobb has been the owner and director of Stage Door Dance Theatre since 1999. She graduated with a BFA from the Boston Conservatory of Music and has studied with masters like Maggie Black, David Howard, Finis Jhung, Gregory Hines, and many more. Although her early years were spent performing in off Broadway, Regional, and Stock theatres, she discovered a passion for teaching and sharing her knowledge with others. In addition to owning and operating, Stage Door Dance Theatre, Kathy is a dance faculty member for Middlesex Community College where she teaches Jazz, Ballet and Tap. She also has choreographed numerous musicals including, Chicago, How to Succeed in Business, Seussical, Bat Boy and Shrek Jr. and most recently Peter Pan Jr. Most importantly, Kathy is thrilled to have the opportunity to motivate and inspire dancers young and old alike.

 

Sallee Slagle - Modern Dance, Intro to Ballet

Sallee Slagle has been teaching, performing and choreographing professionally for over 20 years. Since receiving her BFA in Dance from the Boston Conservatory, she has taught students of all ages and abilities preschool to professionals. Ms. Slagle teaches many dance forms including her favorites Modern Dance, Jazz and Ballet. Sallee has performed throughout New England, the Caribbean and abroad with a variety of dance companies as well as her own modern company, Forty Steps Dance. Sallee enjoys helping others discover a passion for dance teaching technique along with the artistry of dance.
