What is GEAR UP?

GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a student support program funded by the US Department of Education designed to promote school completion and higher education among low-income, first generation families and other college bound students. Each fiscal year the program serves 700 students in grades 7-12 attending Lowell High School and The J.G. Pyne Arts School.

  • Parent/Family Outreach
  • Career Exploration
  • College Tours
  • One-on-one Advising
  • Assistance with the college process
  • SAT, ACT, PSAT Registration Assistance
  • College Essay and Resume Writing
  • College application and financial aid/scholarships application.
  • Academic Enrichment Programs and Summer Programs
