What is GEAR UP?
GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a student support program funded by the US Department of Education designed to
promote school completion and higher education among low-income, first generation
families and other college bound students. Each fiscal year the program serves 700
students in grades 7-12 attending Lowell High School and The J.G. Pyne Arts School.

The program offers the following services:
- Academic Advising
- College Early Awareness
- Course Selection
- High School Transition Program
- Parent/Family Outreach
- Career Exploration
- College Tours
- One-on-one Advising
- Assistance with the college process
- SAT, ACT, PSAT Registration Assistance
- College Essay and Resume Writing
- College application and financial aid/scholarships application.
- Academic Enrichment Programs and Summer Programs
