What is Upward Bound?

Upward Bound is a college preparatory program for students in grades 9-12 attending Lowell High School. The program consists of a school year college preparatory class and a 6-week summer academic enrichment component. Students must meet Federal Income guidelines for low income families and be a first generation college bound student.

  • College campus tours
  • Assistance with the college admission process
  • MCAS, PSAT, and SAT test preparation and assistance
  • Academic support resources
  • Educational/Cultural enrichment activities
  • FAFSA and scholarships application assistance

How to Apply?

To apply, students need to complete and submit the following forms:

  • Upward Bound Application
  • Teacher's Recommendation form
  • Guidance Counselor's Recommendation form
  • Signed Parent/legal guardian and Student Agreement form

In addition, students need to interview with the Upward Bound Assistant Director and commit to attend a 6-week Summer Enrichment Program.  Active participants receive a stipend at the end of the summer program.
