Harassment Prevention for Staff

Every person has the right to work in an environment free from harassment and to be evaluated on the basis of work performance. Everyone loses when harassment occurs. It affects productivity and lowers morale at all levels of an organization. Anticipating and handling harassment problems properly can mean the difference between a drawn-out lawsuit and internal resolution. This workshop provides basic information and tools to prevent and handle harassment and resulting complaints. This workshop can be customized to meet the needs of managers.

Effective Interviewing

This workshop is for those responsible for interviewing, making hiring decisions, appraising employees and obtaining feedback from departing personnel. The program will strengthen skills in the four critical areas of employee selection, appraisal, discipline and exit interviewing.

Highlights include:

  • Use of proven questioning techniques that provide insights into an applicant's true capabilities.
  • How to choose the appropriate questioning techniques (behavioral, open-end, closed-end, loaded, leading, direct) that will uncover the needed information.
  • How to hire people who will stay with the organization and deliver top performances year after year.

Performance Evaluation

This workshop offers a comprehensive overview of the performance evaluation process and will focus on methods and techniques for evaluating employees on a year-round basis. Options and techniques will be presented, and suggestions will be given for the all-important performance interview. Included will be some suggestions on coordinating the performance review with merit pay and reductions in force. Participants need not have a system in place to benefit from this practical approach to this important topic.

Managing and Valuing Cultural Diversity

This workshop deals with how to create and maintain an organization where everyone is willing and able to work together in collaborative ways. The employees will learn how to promote equity, fairness and respect in interpersonal dealing among fellow staff members in respect to age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, social class, ethnicity or gender. The employees will learn how to heal the impact of discrimination and remove the hurt, misinformation, and powerlessness that keeps discrimination in the workplace.

Coaching

Coaching is a critical skill for integrating new employees more quickly into the company. Peer coaches provide regular support to employees in solving work-related problems and dilemmas, thus preventing small problems from becoming insurmountable. Peer coaching eliminates feelings of being lost in the system. This course presents the basics of peer coaching.
