First Generation at Middlesex Community College

Middlesex Community College is a diverse community and welcomes students from all backgrounds. One of our special populations is students who are the first generation to attend college, also known as First Gen.  A first generation student is a student whose parent have not earned a minimum of a bachelor degree.

Many Middlesex administrators, faculty and staff are also the first in the family to attend college and want to share their personal stories with you.  As the first in your family to attend college, you may have questions about what it's like to be a college student or what is expected of you in college. All faculty and staff are available to answer any questions that you have; however, if you relate to someone's personal story in the reflections, feel free to contact that individual directly. We are all here to help you succeed and we know first hand how difficult it can be to find your way. We are YOUR resources and we want to help you reach your goals and succeed at MCC.

Please note that the opinions and conclusions expressed in these stories do not necessarily reflect the views of Middlesex Community College.

For additional information about programs for first generation students, please contact the TRIO Student Success Program
