Middlesex Community College
Celebrating the Legacy of President Carole A. Cowan
Community Reflections
Being both a faculty member and a community partner, my favorite memory has to do with the latter. I remember being
backstage with her as she prepared to help us open the Lowell Folk Festival by welcoming the audience at the Market Street
Stage. She was wearing her LFF Partner hat, given to her as one of our sponsors. When I mentioned that I needed to go
back and get a hat for my long day in the sun, she immediately gave me hers.

President Cowan has been the driving force
behind all of the success that Middlesex has
enjoyed over the last quarter century. She is
truly one of the top five human beings I have
ever known and I am proud to have worked for
and with her for nearly 35 years.

At any occasion she adjusted
to and controlled the situation
properly. She worked at MCC
with love of MCC. Respected
and communicated with
everyone in all times. All I
heard and know was praise
about President Cowan.

President Cowan revolutionized everything about MCC,
totally transforming the lives of its students and the
campus communities. I feel so fortunate to have had
the privilege of witnessing and promoting so many
of these magical Middlesex moments.

As commencement speaker
at my graduation in 1991,
President Cowan was very
gracious as I thanked her for
throwing such a lovely party!
She has been an inspiration
throughout my career.
