Community Reflections
My first role with MCC was as the
Director of Marketing at The Career Place.
Whenever President Cowan visited the
career center, she always took the time to
stop and speak with each staff member,
and demonstrated true caring and support.

I place a lot of value on laughter
in one's life. Laughter helps
you get through tough times and
increases your longevity. President
Cowan has mastered the power of
laughter. Her laugh is contagious
and genuine. It is a good day when
you share a laughing moment with
the President this I am truly going
to miss!

For the last 23 years I have had the great opportunity to work at
Middlesex Community College and more specifically the great
pleasure and honor to work for President Carole A. Cowan. When
I look back over all those years and see where the college was back
then and where it is today it's truly amazing. The citizens of the Merri-
mack Valley, and in particular the Lowell and Bedford area, are fortu-
nate to have the best community college in the state, if not the nation,
available for their educational and workforce needs. Carole, congratulations on an outstanding
career and best of luck in the years ahead.

I will never forget my first day at Middlesex and my first encounter with President Cowan.
Then President, Jim Houlihan, asked Carole Cowan, Chair of the Business Department, to
spend some time acquainting me with the College. At lunch, we spent a little time talking about
the College and a lot of time talking about our families. Carole talked lovingly about her mother
and her son Kevin, a budding musician. She also me that she was in the process of selling her
home. A realtor was touring her home and Kevin, trying to be helpful, told the realtor that the
stove was like brand new - opening the oven door and assuring the realtor that it had never
been used! We laughed and I got an early glimpse into the genuineness of Carole Cowan.
